Our year - facts, highlights etc...

Ok so we are finally back. As we start looking for a place to live and in Kristal's case a job, here are some final thoughts on our year away.

Sun, Desert, Colourful hills and Salt!!!

From Peru we headed back south to Chile, stopping for almost a week in Iquique, where we basically spent our time reading books on the beach. The weather was great, sunshine everyday although the water is freezing, nothing like our time at the beach on Gili Air.

Lake Titicaca

Lake Titicaca is best visited from the port city of Puno, a medium-sized town built into the hills overlooking the lake. Lake Titicaca is the largest navigable lake in the world, although from Puno it doesn´t look so big because of peninsulas that jut out, looking like they are the other side of the lake. It takes a boat trip out to the islands, past these penisulas, to get the real perspective.

Cusco, Machu Piccu and around

Arriving in Cusco at 5.30am on an overnight bus from Arequipa, we left our packs at a hostel and set off for Machu Piccu.
